Same here.

When I bought this car in Dec. '99 and put the Pro 5.0 in it, there was no MGW only; 5.0, Hurst Billet, B&M, Kirban (now LONG gone).

After talking to the road racing/a-x peeps, and hearing from some on this thread, I am sorry I did not go with the B&M. (They even had replaceable handles back then.)

Went from stock Hurst to Pro 5.0, while I liked the feel of it, it felt worn compared to another friend's Pro 5.0. I scored an MGW for a great price and it is leaps and bounds better than any shifter IMO. 2-3 shift feels so much better.

Running the B&M ripper now never had a change to mess with stock.
Sounds like the MGW is the way to go what makes it better then the B&M?

I had both the b&m and mgw and I can say that the mgw isa a much better shifter atleast to me. The b&m was notchier day to day driving and the throws were much longer than the mgw. The gates were also further spaced apart. While I never missed 3rd with the b&m the mgw practically fins 3rd on its own with the huge centering springs.

The only thing I liked about the b&m was at WOT it would take as much force on tyhe shifter the hit the next gear hard. However this is simply because it has a longer throw. The mgw takes more effort but the throws are shorter and it drives much tighter around town. Overall I give it to the mgw

Another vote for MGW - mine has been great. You can adjust the shifter length to whatever you like, and all it is is one pinch clamp with two Allen head bolts so as far as people saying there's too many junctions or hardware I don't get that... It's a solid quality piece, all billet aluminum.

Also if you buy the MGW and don't like it for some off the wall reason, you'll have no trouble getting rid of it.

It was the hardcore road race/open track peeps saying that, and you have to understand that they are pounding on a shifter for HOURS at a time straight, not just 9-13 seconds with breaks in between (like the mostly 1/4 milers on here).
So anything that is not a one solid piece handle (a la the B&M), appears like a weak break/stress point to them.

B&M with the stick cut down about 1 inch. Love it. Never tried the MGW, but felt the pro5.0 was a bit notchy.
