Default T56 up to the task?

I currently have a 87 fox body with a h/c lq4 and a t56. The t56 has steel 3-4 shift fork and bronze shifter pads. Car only made 409/390 on motor, 495/560 on 100 and 549/616 on a 150. That was on a mustang dyno so im pretty sure it would do better on a dynojet. Last weekend I went 10.8 @ 132 on motor. My ultimate goal is to go 9s with the six speed. Whats my chances of doing this without destroying it or bending the mainshaft?

With the weight of your car you should be ok. I would routinely inspect the splines on the mainshaft though. Sometimes you can catch a failing mainshaft before it actually breaks by catching it starting to twist. If you have the extra cash to spend on a 30 spline shaft upgrade it is a good investment and peace of mind.

So really once I do the viper mainshaft it should be ok. I was also thinking about getting it faceplated when these synchros start to give me trouble. Does faceplating effect the strength any?
