Question Squeaky Clutch...

2001 LS1 6 speed manual.....

When I depress the clutch is squeaks bad. It appears to be coming from where the rod goes in here:

Any ideas how to fix & what to use? I dont wanna just spray something in there that might damage it.

Mine does too. I tried WD-40 but it made it worse and pedal movement was no longer smooth. I'm curious if there are better spray lubricants out there. I used white lithium grease when I put it together, but it started squeaking again in less than a year or so.

yesterday i opened up my brother's TMC(tick master cyl) and adjusted it a few times it used to squeak bad .. mysteriously it stopped when i reassembled it, gonna hit the whole clutch assembly with WD-40 now too.

that would be enough to make sure it doesn't come back again

Ok...pulled the rubber boot off and sprayed it with WD40....sprayed everything that moved with the clutch and removed the spring. Nothing.

Then just for giggles we checked the two bolts on the plate that is holding it into the firewall. Low and behold the right one was loose.

See the two bolts here:

Tightened the begezzers out of it and all squeaks are gone!

WOO HOOOOOO

I think as it came a bit loose it put the sleeve at a different angle.

Anyway....Check your nuts! lol

If you continue to notice squeak from the movement of the shaft (not loose bolts) you may want to try using some lithium grease. Spread a thin layer over the parts and it should take care of any lubrication related squeaks.
