Default LS7 clutch problem, pics

Alright guys, now that school is over I had a chance to rip the trans out of the 2004 GTO were working on. The problem was that the clutch would not release, which was very odd as the pedal pressure was way too hard, not soft. My original thought was that the clutch disk might have somehow been in backwards, but that wasn't the case. Besides just replacing all of the hydraulics, I really have no idea. The clutch might not have been aligned completely perfect originally, as we just eyeballed it, but I don't see that causing this issue.

I don't see anything wrong. Might try sliding the disc on the input shaft and make sure it slides freely. Also could connect slave to car and hold the piston in while someone else pushes the pedal just for sanity check. You said the pedal was hard. Were you able to push it to the floor?

I was able to get the pedal all the way to the floor, although it reminded me of a 70's cable clutch...x2. The slave is the stock unit from the car, which only has about 30k on it. Might just replace that now, but I really dont think thats what the issue is.

We had the exact same issue on an LS1 Camaro....fought and fought with no answer. Put in a Monster clutch problem solved. LS7 has been problematic for many...

How about the adjustment springs that are visible in the pics? any possible problems there?

Springs look fine. Starting to think something is wrong with pressure plate. Ls7 clutch should feel very close to stock.

We reset the springs and nothing changed so installed twice same issue. Put stock clutch back in and everything was fine. Couple weeks later did Monster clutch and that went in fine too. Hate to say it but there seems to be something wrong with pressure plates out if the box. It was a waste of money and a serious waste of time. The LS7 clutches were definitely "hit or miss" looking at threads on here.

LS7 clutch has adjusters that take time to settle in. You need to put about 500-1000 miles on it before expecting it to behave normally.

Ive driven a lot of clutches now. LS7 was my favorite. So much so im going back to one
