Hey all,

I have dealer accounts with both AMS Automotive and Centerforce. I've run both clutches in my Jeeps over the years and have been happier with AMS. I'm just curious if anyone here has run AMS brand specifically in their LS1?

IMHO the pic you show has a disc that looks "fragile" in terms of how the center sprung hub is attached to outer friction surface ring. Also it has 4 springs vs 5-6. I guess if it is just a DD non race clutch you should be OK if just running stock or minimal bolt on motor.

I would look at the McLeod clutch, note the disc assembly

The AMS clutch kit shown above is less than $300 my cost. Centerforce my cost is around $300-$400. McLeod would be retail price, so $615 + shipping. Pricing is the biggest factor at the moment. My car is my warm weather DD if I don't take the motorcycle. It's only got 320hp to the wheels and I'm okay with that. I track it once or twice a year. As you said it's not a race car. I'm just really trying to decide between AMS and Centerforce.

of the 2 brands CenterForce would be more known on this digest. If the CF one you are looking at is the dual friction disc (organic one side ceramic puc the other) for 300-400 that is a good $. A DF disc will be more prone to chatter if that is a concern but most "adjust" their driving/engagement technique to address that

If they are both organic disc than than the AMS sounds to be the better $ deal. Just DD either should be fine

Thanks again. Looking at Centerforce, for example. Their Dual Friction clutches list 2 for my '98.
