New Slave Leaking. Is this normal?

I'm replacing my slave in my 2002 Camaro. I have a Speed Bleeder on it. I have the slave hanging in by the lines. I have a leak from the new slave cylinder!!

Is this normal when not installed and put under pressure from the Master (by hand)? I'm getting ready to put this back together and I don't want to install a bad slave. Advise please...

Does anyone have a cut a way diagram of how this slave is supposed to work?
Are there any seals that could POP?

This has happened to many of us and there are other threads on it. The key seems to be getting a GM part for this one. (not a Delco or other brand)

Yes I've been reading this might be quite common. The part I got is Exactly like the old one, right down to the casting marks. I was pleased before closing the speed bleeder and giving it an easy push with the MC. I heard it go 'POP' and a flood of fluid hit the concrete.

Is there any way to assess this before putting it in? Should it be able to hold pressure from the Master while hanging and being bled?

The slave isn't meant to be expanded when there isn't any resistance on it, you blew the fluid past the seal as it went too far which is the pop you heard. I would now get a new one as I'm not sure you can get the o-ring to reseal.
