Well, after 2 yrs and 2 shops my car is going back together. Long and short of it is I was adjusting the stop bolts on my pro 5.0 shifter. Unexpectedly, the shifter (ball end) popped out of the trans (while shifter bolted in) I have no idea what is supposed to retain the shifter ball end into the trans, looking for some help, pics would be awesome.
disconnects from this while shifting gears (pulling up on shifter handle) rendering the shifter useless. Fortunately this was found while re-installing not while driving. I know there has to be some internal parts preventing the shifter from lifting out of the cup in the trans, just have no idea what it's supposed to look like.
The issue I'm having is trying to reassemble most of my car from a box of mixed parts. The shop that I had it took everything apart so I have no idea what it(internal parts of shifter) looked like prior to dis assembly. Looking for pics so I can try to sift through the parts i have to find it.
I had this happen to me all of the time in my 2000 SS & 2001 Z28 (which I also used a Pro 5.0) -- usually at the track. I got very good at taking everything apart and putting it back together between runs
The plastic shifter cup gets worn and the ball simply pops out. You can keep buying GM plastic bushing/cups, but they'll continue to get worn and the ball will pop out. Tick makes a brass bushing which I installed on my 2002 SS. I've never had an issue with that (and I'm also running a Pro 5.0).

Thanks! I will try to replace it. I think I'm missing the internals of the shifter(springs to center and whatever else is in there) I'm really looking for a picture of a Pro 5.0 shifter disassembled. I found an old post that showed how to modify the springs in order to fix. Unfortunately the OP erased the pics which I need. I tried pm'ing him with no reply thus far.
I know that I bringing a thread back from the dead but I have had no luck any where else...
Does anyone know where I can find the pink pivot ball shown in the pictures above? I bought a t56 for my Chevy II And the pro 5.0 was disassembled. I am missing the spring and the pink piece.
Thanks so much! That's exactly what i was looking for. I found all the components.
It's a shame that all the pictures in the link above are gone. Does anyone have pictures of the Pro 5.0 bolt mod? I just got mine installed and the shifter has a hard time popping over from the 1-2 gate to the 3-4 gate.
When I bolted on the Pro5 to mine, spring to central from both sides was poor, from right to centre almost non existent.
Now part of the problem I'm sure is down to my trans, but I ended up putting a stock shifter back onto it. Of the B&M, Pro5 and stock, stock had by far the strongest springs from 1-2 to 3-4, ie left to centre.
Interestingly it had 2 springs for this action, whereas all others had only a single spring too.
Moot point though...as I think something else is buggered inside it now lol
