Default Ordered The "non-walk" Bushing For T56

Replaced the rear seal on my T56. Its still leaking. Im told the bushing behind it can move and hit the seal to cause leaks. I found out about the non-walk bushing from a buddy of mine and ordered it today. Hopefully that will be the end of my leak. Stay tuned!

Tell us more. If you're talking about the bushing pressed into the tailhousing which the slip yoke slides into, I see no reason for it to "walk" into the seal.

I believe it is down there. When I first noticed it I cleaned it all up with brake cleaner then monitered it. It definately appears to be from the tailshaft. I have friends who have had the problem with the bushing, and cured it with the non-walk bushing. The car sees the track weekly. Made 15 passes this last week.

the bush can walk out toward the seal and press agasnt it causeing it to leak. i am the friend he is talking about. the non walk bushing is much longer and has instuctions on where to punch dimples in the bushing in order to insure it will stay in place and not walking out or in.

Default No Walk bushing

BLUEBALLS ZZ or NASTYSSoo: Can you provide any detailed instructions on how to install these no walk bushings? I purchased one for my T-56 from Rockland Standard Gear but the instructions were not that great. the bushing I purchased has two small half circle notches at one end. Does this end go into the housing first or does this end point to the rear of the tranny? There are two groves machined into the housing which I assume are oiling channels. One is larger than the other. Which channel does the bushing oil hole line up with? How and where do you stake the bushing? Do those little notches have anything to do with the staking procedure? I don't want to screw this up, as the bushing was $30. I have tried three different brands of OEM bushings with no success. They all deform because of those channels machined into the housing and then I can't get my yoke to fit into the bushing. Tremec tells me that they install the bushngs and then machine it to fit the yoke. I hope I don't have to machine this no walk bushing.

Thanks.
