Question Any reason NOT to do the Drill Mod?

I got the tranny out of my car right now, was planning on doing the drill mod after I replace the clutch.
This ol' mechanic buddy of mine said he heard if you do the drill mod it can blow out the clutch master cyl. because fluid rushes back into it too fast when you let the clutch out, or some BS like that. I think he is probably FOS.
I have NEVER heard any negatives about this mod, so before I do it, are there any ??

The only negative I've read is that it can generate more heat when shifting fast at redline......see article below.

I didn't see anything in that article about the drill mod creating more heat, or anything negative about it, for that matter

Do the drill mod you will notice it when shifting especially at high rpms.

I've had no negative side effects from doing the drill mod over 3 years ago.

do the drill mod, the reason its there is to slow down the fluid on a clutch release to make clutch engagement smoother, but at higher rpm's that slip's and burns the clutch...

there's been some talk that people start breaking sh*t after doing the drill mod because the faster shifting leads to increased stress on drivetrain components.

That is true depends how much power your car is making and what tires you use.

Oops....I misread the chevey high performance article. The heat/slipping is when shifting fast without the drill mod. It looks like there's not negative effect.

I thought you had it backwards. The Drill mod's negative effect is that the clutch will clamp down harder faster, which at higher rpms could make shifting seem a little harder, and if the clutch is clamping down hard enough and fast enough, then the drill mod can definitely be seen as something increasing drivetrain strain, because instead of the clutch soaking up that power by slipping, it is transferring it all to the drive train.

Hi ... the drill mod does help, but what we have found out here at Textralia is an aeroquip 4an stainless line will work much better!
We will have all fittings for the slave and master along with the stainless line instock in two weeks .

Hi...we have done the drill mod in the test mule with ok results, then we used the aircraft line with a bigger inside diameter and results were great! The pedal is much more responsive. This line kit is more efficent than just drilling the small restriction.

Hi...the kit has a special fitting for both the slave/master which allows the fitting of the stainless 4an aircraft line. Pricing hasnt been determined yet,but we are going to try and keep the pricing reasonable.
