Default 6speed question

Hello people. I'm building turbo charged 6.0 for my 72 nova and was looking to hear some feedback about 6 speeds... I am on a little bit of a budget and want to weigh my options about puting in a strong enough trany for about 750 hp... Can stock trans be built to be beefier than it already comes so I don't have to spend 3G plus... Thanks

yes the stock T56 can be upgraded at home..if you know what your doing.

I would contact some T56 specials (sponsors here) and see what they charge for a rebuild/upgrade.

Or you can just throw it in and see what happens.

If your really making 750HP and want to have fun with it, your doing a trans upgrade now or later....

That's what I was kinda leaning towards is just installing it and running it till it goes bad then beef it up... Thank for the input

the T56 "Magnum" aka TR6060 is rated at 700 ft lb TQ....if that is within your build.

it is just under $3k though.

can it be modified for more HP/TQ???, contact places like D&D performance (where I got my T56) or other sponser distributers/builders of T56

I know the 94-97 versions could be upgraded to "viper" output shafts, etc. for more power levels than the 450 hp stock one was rated for.

the new production cars making 500+ HP are fitted with the TR6060

Instead of junking hundreds in hard parts on a loose stocker, go through it (or have it gone through) and install a pump.

If you're launching on slicks, do a bigger mainshaft / output. If you're not, take it apart to find the 5-6 cluster gear loose and do a bigger mainshaft anyway.

Similar goals here and just picked up a Monster 11" Ceramic with lightweight flywheel after some good convos with an Fbody owner who took his setup into the 9's with this clutch. I was looking to get a twin disc but couldnt pass up on the sale price for the Monster unit.
