Default Help- Tranny is Leaking

I've read through past posts and have done a few searches, but cannot find much info.

Since I had my engine rebuilt, my tranny has been leaking. This has been going on since October 2003. I cannot tell exactly where it is leaking from, but it is enough where the underside of my car is coated with tranny fluid (it is red, so it's not engine oil). The 2 possibilities I found where either around the shifter base or the rear seal. I plan on pulling the shifter this week and applying some orange RTV. But if that's not it, what is involved in replacing the rear seal? Does anybody have any other experiences with their's leaking?

TIA

Im dealing with it right now. The rear seal is very easy to replace. I replaced mine but it is still leaking. I was told the bushing behind the seal can "walk" and hit the seal causing the leak. I recently bought a "non-walk" bushing and the factory seal(as opposed to the $3.00 one I got at autozone) and hopefully will replace both this weekend. Ill let you know how it turns out.

What do you have to do to replace the rear seal? I see the drive shaft has to be removed, but is there anything else? Also, what is the part number?

I got mine from a tranny shop. Its made for tremec by Transmission Technologies Corporation. It has the dust cover on it unlike the $3.00 seal from Autozone. Part# 1300-044-019.I got mine from Pro Motion Performance Powertrain.1(800) 771-6843. E-Mail Powertrainwarehs@aol.com It was $10.00. Very nice guys! I spoke with Wally. I also got the non-walk bushing from them $27.00.
