RXT help
Installed RXT in my LS3 Vette. It now has 250 miles on it, and the chattering is earth-shaking. People swore this clutch doesn't chatter, it feels like my monster 3 single. It can and will slip smoothly, then suddenly chatters hard and grabs.
PP was torqued to 35ft lbs per the instructions, everything cleaned thoroughly with brake-kleen. Clutch is properly disengaging, Rev the car to 7k in 1st with the pedal depressed results in no movement. Pedal starts lightly engaging right off the floor, then a "click" is felt in the pedal and chattering starts.
This leads me to believe that the PP may need retorqued checking for the fingers to stop moving. The instructions aren't very clear on this IIRC.
I don't want to pull this phucker apart again, it sucks.
Needing some input, is this normal? Should I retorque?
Thanks.

Even though you were not happy with my unit and replaced it with a competitor I'll help all I can. Any fluid contamination will cause chatter, so will lack of torque in hardware (you've covered that), and input shaft issues.
Of course, incorrect flywheel resurfacing will cause this as well... the causes are numerous. Try the spring and let us know if it helps.
Assist spring was gone with the stock clutch, and I used a new McLeod steel flywheel.
If this amount of chatter is normal, then I'll deal with it, but I'm just trying to gather opinions and experience. It does feel as if the disks are engaging at different times.

Check for any leaks around the bellhousing area. Do you feel any odd vibrations? Did you measure the setup height on the clutch during installation? Check mounts/etc.
Just brainstorming for you...
I didn't specifically measure anything while the car was apart doing the install. A local installer has suggested that he has had to shim the floater in the past when he encountered a similar issue.

I'd be willing to bet the setup height is wrong causing the setup to drag, thus glazing the friction and instigating chatter.

It's going to need shimmed. The disks are not engaging at the same time. I've heard of shimming the floater plate. I'll just look for more info.
