Default Short Throw Shifters

I am looking for a decent short throw shifter. I was looking at a RPM Speed shifter and a Fidanza and the big names of coarse. opinions on themplease

MGW is the go to shifter in the LSx world. B&M would be good too.

I've got the Pro 5.0 with Lou's Short Stick on it. No complaints with the set-up for me.

I'd thoroughly investigate the online info with respect to the additional noise that the performance shifters will generate. There are fixes for some of them as well to quiet them down and still retain nearly of all their "feel." If you don't mind the additional rattles at various rpms (in some or all gears) then get whatever feels best for you. Some cars are absolutely quiet with these performance shifters. Other cars rattle like a can of marbles. Hurst shifters seem to be notorious for rattles. Have not researched the 2 you mentioned above. The MGW and Pro Stick 5.0 seem to have least amount of complaints. A lot is dependent on how quiet your transmission already is with a stock shifter. If you already have an upgraded engine and clutch you can expect a lot more rattling being transmitted through the performance shifter. Figure the odds are 50-50 of your shifter remaining quiet after an upgrade.

Pro 5.0 hands down, I love the notchy feeling shifter. Yes it transmits more noise, but it doesn't have a big rubber bushing in it anymore either so you actually feel connected to the transmission.

I just recently put an MGW in and replaced the shifter cup to a brass one too. I get more gear noise/vibration transmitted up through the shifter now but think if I hadn't changed the shifter cup it wouldn't be as bad. When I swapped it out I cut the opening in the OEM outer boot larger so that I could get it over the new shifter and I am sure that helps a great deal. Will be a PITA to get it back off though I'm sure LOL

I am extremely happy with the new shifter though, if I'd known it would be so much better I would have done it much sooner.

MGW. Very solid feel and the noise isn't nearly as bad as it seems like.

MGW....I was skeptical but decided to try it even though I liked my stock Hurst with ss. Big improvement, took about 20minutes of driving to appreciate it.

I wanted mine even shorter so I cut it at the little notch.

IMO, the Pro 5.0 shifter I had was a good shifter to me, it was a little noisy, but a good shifter. I replaced my Pro 5.0 (they don't offer a rebuild service or repair parts) after it wore to the point it developed some play in the shifter level assembly and became annoyingly noisy, which was roughly around +9 yrs of daily driving. My newest shifter is a Hurst billet plus, which seems fairly quiet, and shifts better than my previous Pro 5.0.
BTW, I installed a bronze shifter cup to replace the worn factory plastic cup(below the shifter) and didn't experience any additional noise.

I've got the pro 5.0 and lou's short stick combo and love it. I took the rubber accordian boot off the stock hurst and stretched it to fit on the pro 5.0 and it seems to have kept the noise to a minimum. The notchier feel and super short throw feels great on this combo.

Juss installed the mgw on mine and I love it. Hardly any noise increase and juss makes the 2-3 a breeze, I had the stock shifter with a short stick before this. I cut a half inch off mine and it feels good, probably another half inch would put it where my old one was at.

FWIW "my" HURST Pro Billet is quiet. Have not heard complaints in particular to the HURST before. Don't know about the MGW or B&M as I have not used them. Many do run the MGW

I have a Hurst billet shifter and it is an extremely quick throw but doesn't give me much satisfaction shifting gears. Would prefer the heaviness of the pro 5.0 to feel like I am banging gears
