Default Clutch peddle

I've only had this car (01 Firehawk) about two weeks and already I'm getting SES lights and of course that piston slap is nice too. The latest event ocurred last night. For once the car didn't have an SES light so I actually took it for a drive to my friend's house. On the way back, I push down the clutch and I hear what sounds like a spring being released and I feel something drop on my foot. I immediately stop and check the floor. It's dark so I don't find anything. I get back in the car and start driving. Everything seems ok. But all of the sudden on letting out the clutch peddle, it gets stuck! So now the clutch peddle is in between the floor and the full upright position. After about 10 seconds, the clutch peddle snaps loudly and releases the rest of the way. I get home and with a flash light, I find a strange looking spring. It is one spring, with a rectangular section in the middle. It is maybe an inch and 1/2 long. Upon inspection of the spring, I can see that the ends of the spring have broken clean through. This sucks. Does anyone know what this spring might be? Please help, after 16 years of F-body ownership, this may be my last.

It's your clutch pedal spring. Common problem. I had mine break one side of the spring, dealer replaced it no problem. I think there might be a TSB or something on it, I'd call the dealer and find out.

What's involved with the repair? Is it ok to drive it for a while until I can take it in? Ya know, all morning I looked at the word "peddle" and said to myself that doesn't fricken look right. I'm sorry, I meant "p-e-d-a-l" I'm such a dumbass.

It's fine to drive on. I drove on mine for a few months before having it fixed. As for the repair, I haven't done it, but it looks relatively straight forward. I did hear that the spring is on the expensive side (for a spring) around $30.
