I have looked around here about switching from an F-body shifter to a GTO shifter and have come up with everything is the same besides the shifter assembly itself and the shift cup. Reason for the change is I'm working on a build and the shifter falls approx four inches short of where i need it. The f-body is approx 29-1/2 inches from the front of the bellhousing to the shifter location and the GTO is 33 inches. That would make the shifter land almost exactly where i need it. So i just want to confirm that if i was to purchase and aftermarket shifter for an 04 GTO and a new shifter cup for an 04 GTO, thats all i would need to use the GTO shifter?

Based on this pic and perusal of Hurst aftermarket shifters I think you need just what you described.
