Default loss of pedal...why?

Got my sons 01 Z up and running. The existing clutch was fine so we just reinstalled. Motor is all stock.
Here's the issue:
drives and shifts fine when normal driving. As soon as you run it a little hard, it loses pedal. Then after you pump it a few times, pedal is back.

Could there still be a small bubble in it?

Definitely try bleeding first. If that doesn't work, there are two very common failings of the stock F-body LS1 clutch:

1. The stock master and the stock replacement master cylinders are crap. I went through several before finally springing for the tick master, and it's been one of the best upgrades I ever did to the car for raw driveability and shift performance. FWIW, the stock slave is almost always fine.

2. The stock clutch pressure plate has a self-adjusting mechanism. When it starts to fail, you get inconsistent pedal return. You can have it where the friction material looks fine, but the PP mechanism is gone. From your description, I think this sounds like your issue.

Many people report that getting a complete clutch kit, which includes the hydraulics and the clutch and flywheel completely fixes the issue.

Bled it again today at work but couldn't run it hard with the rain. But Looks like we may do the full kit from CoSpeed or Tick.

That is your best bet. There's a sticky on bleeding the tick master. Make sure you check that out. You'll really like that remote bleeder as well.

Always a good idea to upgrade the clutch/master cylinder, especially if you're looking at throwing more power at the car.
