Default T56 question

I have a 2008 Mustang GT w/ a 4.6L V8, I wanted to upgrade the tranny in it as it is having issues, so I started looking at the T56 as it is what is being recommended to me by other mustang owners. I am slightly confused on one aspect, could I purchase any T56 and take out the core and put on the correct bell housing or do I need to get a tranny that is specific for my car?

I was looking at rebuilt ones or used ones that I could rebuild, as I can't afford the brand new ones. So I was wondering if I bought one that was meant for a different car could I get the correct bell housing and put it in mine?

By the time you take that Corvette trans, rebuild it, add everything to make it fit in your Mustang, you will spend way more money than the Magnum XL. You don't have any "inexpensive" options.

A GT500 TR6060 is also an option for your car.

Yes, but how do you address the bolt on output flange?
