Default Manual transmissions

I'm changing my LT 1 with T56 6 speed powered 37 Ford to a genIII engine. I'm aware the tranny will require modification and I am asking if all Gen III will accept a stock LS type GM Flywheel and clutch.

Dave,

There is some issues with early 6.0L truck engines as they had a crank with a different offset, but otherwise, all 6 bolt Gen III and Gen IV have the same flywheel pattern. There are two styles of flywheel, the LS1/6 flat style and the LS2/7 stepped style. Either will bolt to the crank, but you have to run the appropriate clutch to match whatever style of flywheel you choose.

Thanks Andrew. I assume all LS engines are balanced internally and all have holes in crank for pilot bushings?

Yes Sir. The crank actually has two cavities for pilot, the small inner and larger outer. If you are going to have your LT T56 modded to LS spec, then you will be using the smaller inner cavity.
