Default quicktime bellhousing

I posted this question in another thread, but I didn't get a response. I had a hard time getting my quicktime bellhousing to center with the adjustable dowel pins. The measurements seemed inconsistent, so I focused on modifying the magnetic base and rod. I used two magnets for more stability. I still wasn't getting consistent measurements. I was getting frustrated, so I stopped working on my trans am project for a while. I recently focused on the run-out problem again. I think I figured out the problem. The bellhousing needs to move up and right. Well, a bolt is located next to the vertical side of the bellhousing. I tried using all bolts except the far right one to connect the bellhousing to the engine. For the first time, I got a measurement within specs. Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Did I overlook something in the directions? I'm not an expert mechanic, I'm surprised that quicktime would direct an owner to adjust the run-out when the design of the bellhousing prevents adjustments to begin with.

Did you locate the bell with the trans plate bolted up to the bell?

I used allen head cap screws with no flange on my Quicktime install. The cap screws give more clearance and I had no problem adjusting the runout.

I have don't have much interest in the Ultimate Street Car series. I do some local SCCA autocross and NASA track days but I'm really working toward entering the Silver State Classic Challenge open road event and maybe the Virginia City Hill Climb. I have also spent a fair amount of time on the Tail of The Dragon in TN.

Here is a shot of the car on RT129 earlier this spring.

Thanks - I'm definitely going to need to do something different with the bellhousing bolts.

-The quicktime bellhousing is .024 inches off. That's well beyond the .005 limit. I have to get .021 offset dowel pins.
-All the mounting, measuring, removing of the bellhousing has weakened my aluminum engine block threads. I stripped one of the threads, and I wasn't using that much torque. I may need to heli-coil all the bellhousing bolt holes.
-I used a dremel on some of the bellhousing holes. It had to be done to get the bellhousing to move.

I've been messing with this for too long. I finally got some help. I kept thinking that I must be doing something wrong. The bellhousing can't be this far out of alignment. Well, it is that far.

Perhaps I shouldn't have asked for a price match when I ordered the quicktime. Makes me wonder if that price match guarantee means I got a defective bellhousing that was returned, re-boxed, and re-sold.

What exactly are the Quicktime instructions? "Did you locate the bell with the trans plate bolted up to the bell?"

That sucks the QuickTime is so far off, you drop that much coin it should be spot on. It's not like you have a spare front trans plate laying around or want to take your trans apart. I guess if you want to play you have to pay.

Check the clearance between the bellhousing and the top two seal housing bolts they could be hitting throwing everything off

I'll try to install the .021 pins soon. I did mount the plate before bolting the bellhousing.
