I sold my stock t56 with my MGW as a package deal. Picked up the hinson with my "stage 2" t56. I liked both, but I think I preferred the MGW. I am probably going to sell the Hinson and get the MGW again.

I preferred the MGW in my buddies car, so I bought one and sold the Hinson.

I bought Yotaman96's hinson, and I just ordered a new mgw so I should be able to give some input when I get it.

I have the Hinson in my car while I'm waiting for my mgw I ordered, 2 week wait.

For those of you that have had both, how much taller is the mgw then the Hinson? I have a factory hurst **** on the Hinson in my car now and it's really short, not bad though.

I didn't measure, but the MGW is quite a bit taller. I thought the Hinson was too short. There's a lot of people that like super short handles though.

Took the hinson out and installed my new mgw. The mgw is quite a bit taller, atleast an inch if not more. You can easily cut the mgw stick down to make it shorter since its just a 5/8" round steel.

Other then the mgw centering from the 5-6 gate where the hinson doesnt, the shifters feel about the same to me.

The mgw is a nice shifter, but so is the hinson. I dont think you can go wrong with either one.

Out of curiosity, has anyone used an extension on the shifter to bring it up closer to the steering wheel? Road race style..

It won't be used in an F-body, but apparently F-body shifters work in volvo 240 swaps.

Obviously the longer the stick gets without altering the pivot point, the further you will need to move your hand for the shift

Obviously. I just remember a shifter I had in an older Audi had a 4 or 5" extension you could thread in between the **** and shifter. The throw was definitely a bit longer, but it was kind of nice for non-drag racing applications where you aren't really looking to shave milliseconds off shifts.

It's nice having it up closer to the wheel. Kind of feels like an old truck, except with significantly shorter/tighter throws.
