Syncro keys broke help
Well we started swapping the t56 into my car. But we decided to replace the input and output shaft seals. When doing the input shaft seal I pulled the race out of the front plate so I didn't damage it installing the seal.
When we put it all back together the trans wouldn't shift. So off came the front plate. The ring on the front syncopated had popped off and one of the keys was broken. It looks like the race didn't get driven in far enough. Whoops, no more beer and transmission disassembly.
The best that I've been able to figure out is that the first syncro you see on the main shaft is the 3/4. If I'm wrong please correct me. My question is will this syncro just slip off if I undo the snap ring in front of it? Or does the entire main shaft require disassembly? My hope is just to undo that snap ring, slide the syncro over the bearings and replace the keys and springs then slide it back on. Will this work or does the trans have to be torn completely apart?
The synchro has the fork in the slider groove. The fork link is meshed with the other 3 links in the interlock. The interlock . . .
Short:
Take it all apart again.
