Default Synchro Trouble

So after accepting the fact that my trans had to come apart to change my 3/4 gear synchro keys. I tore into it tonight. I've got it all torn down to the 1/2 gear inner synchro gear. But I'm have trouble removing that gear to continue. I'm assuming I'll have the same issue with the 3/4 synchro inner gear. Is there a trick that I'm missing? Any ideas I didn't want to pry and hammer on it.

Also on of my alignment screws is stripped out any easy way to remove it? Would the best place to get a new one be GM and can i put the tranny back together without a new one in yet?

I used a press to get the synchro hub off.

Don't know what you mean by alignment screw.

The write up I read referred to the two t40 screws in the side of the case as alignment screws. One of mine is stepped

Weld a little nut on top of the torx rail pin. The heat from the weld will loosen the thread locker and you can back it out with a wrench or socket. New pins are available from places that sell t56 parts.
As mentioned above, the syncro assemblies are a press fit to the main shaft.

I'll try the weld trick. What is the actual name of the pin?

I removed the 3/4 gear synchro hub with a gear puller. Is there a way to install the keys on the 1/2 hub with it on the mainshaft everytime I try the keys just get pushed out by the outter ring. I'm even lining the them up with the notches in the outter ring.

Where'd you get your press?

Here is a link to the T56 service manual. http://www.tremec.com/anexos/TRSM_T56_0711.pdf

The press came from Harbor Freight.
