Default Clutch bleeding issues

Hey guys,

I was having some issues with notchy shifting and having a hard time getting into reverse and (occasionally) first gear so I decided to get a Tick master to see if that would help. Now I think I may be screwing up bleeding the system. I'm working alone, so unfortunately I only have 2 hands to work with...

I'm not confident that I bench bled it properly, so assume it went in dry. The quick disconnect to the slave is attached.

1) Fill up reservoir
2) Insert mityvac fitting snugly into reservoir opening
3) Draw 10 inches of mercury vacuum
4) Pump clutch pedal 5-6 times
5) Maintain vacuum at around 10 inches as a ton of air bubbles come out.
6) Wait until air bubbles seem to stop
7) Remove tube from reservoir without breaking vacuum
8) Observe a couple seconds of bubbles in reservoir as fluid moves downwards

The fluid I'm drawing out is very dark, and I've gotten a couple mityvac cups full already. It's really hard to tell, but it almost seems like I'm taking out more fluid than I am putting in. So now I'm beginning to believe that I'm screwing this up royally.

Thank you for the input!

If you can find an assistant I've found bleeding out the quick connect and bleeding the master out good. Then hook to slave and bleed through slave. No vacuum.

That method has done better than anything I've tried

Thanks for the response. I did get some helpers and I disconnected the master from the slave. I couldn't release the pressure from the fitting when the pedal was all the way down, but I could when it was partial pressure.

I'd have them push gently on the pedal while I cracked it open for a second. After a while it was coming out clear. Now I'm getting bubbles out through the reservoir using the mityvac. Once that's done I will move on to the slave.

I've never done this before so I appreciate the help!

Edit: nothing but bubbles. Now I'm wondering if I did something wrong or if the quick disconnect is letting air in when a vacuum is pulled. Grr...

Edit 2: screw it. The pedal is stiff as hell. I'm calling the master bled.

You're probably good then. I had to fill the reservoir 3-4 times while bleeding the master. Once you got it, you got it. I'll bet after you bleed the slave it'll be much more better
