Default Hydraulic Clutch Line

So I'm fighting some shifting issues and decided to do the drill mod and when I went to go disconnect the hydraulic clutch line the white plastic sleeve was popped off around the line. I've been trying to get it back into the hole and to set down in front of the ridge for 4 hours now

So then I went to the autoparts store to get the quick disconnect tool and that is either to thick or the ridge interferes with it. Anyways I'm at my wits end with this damn thing and was wondering if anybody has any tricks for this or been here?

I don't know what the tool looks like, but I wonder if you could buy a set of fuel line quick disconnect tools and maybe cut one down that will fit inside? Maybe they're the same tool, not sure. Otherwise, you'll probably have to make your own in order to depress the fingers holding the fitting in place.
