T56 Jumping out of 1st and no reverse
Hello Everyone,
For my LS1 Swap I used an 04 GTO T56 with a F-Body Shifter. When I went to drive the car for the first time I found when the clutch was let out, the lever would jump out of first gear.
I took it to a local transmission place that are known for working on T5 transmissions. They dissembled the transmission and only found an issue with the reverse fork pads.
1. Any ideas what would cause this?
2. There is an unknown, I may have had the skip shift connected to the harness' reverse lockout. (But I'm not 100%)
3. Can the Skip Shift and Reverse lockout be deleted, or will this cause more issues?
Thank you all for your time

The skip shift can be deleted, and is commonly done. there are various places that sell the kits to do so.
I would not recommend deleting the reverse lockout. The last thing you want to do is go for fifth, hit reverse, and grenade pretty much your whole drivetrain lol.
However neither of these would cause the tranny to pop out of first when the clutch is engaged.

Thank you everyone for the comments.
They just called me and said they think it's the shifter, which is a Pro 5.0 for an F Body. Is it worth sourcing a different sifter?
They told me it will still come out of first every once in a while when it's cold, but doesn't when it warms up.
I'm going to reinstall reverse lockout when I get it back.
I appericiate any insight
Thank you
