Default Pilot Bearing Input Shaft Damage (pic)

I pulled my trany and found that the input shaft has taken some damage from the pilot bearing. I had one of the larger sealed ball bearing pilot bearing installed in the larger part of the crant flange (engine is an LQ4). the pilot bearing seemed to turn ok and did not show any damage but it must have had a hard time keeping up since it clearly grooved the input.

The Groove is about 0.001 deep. I know I can place a pilot bushing (going with a brass bushing this time) such that it engages the undamaged portion of the shaft but I read that you should have at least 0.375 of bearing surface and the undamaged part is ~0.300.

Question is: can I run it as is or can it be repaired? I just want to know if I need to get another shaft on order.
Thanks a bunch!

I would either replace it or at the very least have it retipped.

If the bearing turns, any possibility your bell was not zeroed in?
Guessing since it's an LQ4 and you're using the outer flange, it may be a Tremec, Richmond, T10, etc on a 621 bell. The latest 621s I've bought were quite a way out and required offset dowels.

This is why I always use a bronze bushing.

Emery cloth and a bronze bushing. Did the same on my C5 over 20k ago. Still works flawlessly. I will never use another needle bearing pilot.
