T56 to TKO swap
Has anyone done a swap on a 4th gen from the T56 6spd back to a 5spd? We road race our Camaro and have no need for the heaviness of the 6speed and the ridiculous 5th and 6th gear ratio's.

Not exactly what you're asking, but there's a Mustang build in the conversions forum where the guy swapped to an LS motor but kept his 3550 tranny. https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...ec-3550-a.html - Different platform, obvoiusly, but might be useful to know what parts were needed.

OP
this is what was done on a B-body LT1
Bellhousing
https://shiftsst.com/store/bellhousi...llhousing.html
Flywheel: 168 T BBC
Starter: GM 168 tooth
Clutch: 11" 26 spline x 1 1/8"
IDK what pilot bearing or T.O. slave but it was a "push" clutch
assume you need to fab up a X member
IDK if shifter position will wind up where yours is now
drive shaft....may require a custom.
Due to the size of the larger bell housing & TKO the tunnel had to be cut out & enlarged, welded back in. I doubt there is any more tunnel room in F-Body over the B-Body, maybe less...
so it seems doable....although in the end IDK what benefit over a T56...and not likely cheaper than going with a T56
If the gear ratio available from a TKO 500 or 600 makes for a better AutoX car vs the T56...IDK. Also Rear gear ratios and or tire size can be adjusted for any particular tranny gear set for a particular road course....
Tremec TKO 500 3.27, 1.98, 1.34, 1.00, 0.68
Tremec TKO 600 2.87, 1.89, 1.28, 1.00, 0.64 or 2.87, 1.89, 1.28, 1.00, 0.82
T56
Gear 94-97 '93
1 2.66 2.97
2 1.78 2.07
3 1.30 1.43
4 1.00 1.00
5 0.74 0.80
6 0.50 0.62

Respectfully disagree the TKO is terrible. Most people do NOT know how to shift them correctly. It is NOT a Muncie, NO H pattern. I will be using one in my build. My buddies shifts like butter, even at 6,000.
