I realize this isnt a corvette forum but, Ive recently picked up a t56 for 50$ (figured why not?) and Ive been hitting some walls in researching what all it would take to swap this in to a c3 corvette from the perspective of the actual trans internals.
When I got the trans I figured that it would be easier to fit a c5 trans in to a c3 vette rather than an fbody trans in to a c3, but from what Ive been reading, that is wrong and I will basically need to convert the trans i have in to an fbody one and use a gto main shaft.
I am just hoping for some sort of guidance on this since I am pretty lost currently.

Sell that core for whatever you can get for it(you should be able to make a few bucks) and put that cash towards the T56 you need.Nothing but some of the internal parts are of any use to your swap.

 

After doing some more research I see what youre saying. I think I will be tackling the ls1 to fbody t56 conversion though, unless I can find someone that wants to trade a vette t56 for a camaro one. Found a few good write ups about the conversions and Im not in a big hurry, wish me luck!
