Which way does the pilot bearing face?
Normally, I would just put in a new part the same way the old one came out, but my dilemma falls that the old bearing was completely destroyed and ground into metal dust. Honestly I'm amazed that there was no damage to the input shaft lol.
This is literally all that was left:
So, right off hand, does it go this way? (Needle bearings closer to motor)
Or this way? (Needle bearings closer to transmission)

top picture, bearings towards engine, beveled end towards tranny
I just barely tap it to start it then use a piece of wood and a BFH to drive it in
a short piece of wood closet dowel
