No 5th or 6th gear
Was driving on the interstate and downshifted to 5th to pass some traffic. While accelerating in 5th gear in was pulling fine but then acted like it was in neutral. I put it in 6th gear and was just like being in neutral. First through fourth gear work fine but no 5th and 6th gear. No grinding noises just no 5th and 6th gear. Drove home in 4th gear.Transmission works fine the lower 4 gears. Any idea what is broken?

i would doubt he ripped the splines off of the 5/6 cluster and it doesn't make any noises... however I could see the engagement dogs being worn on the idler 5/6 gears, trying to force the slider off of the hub of the gear and it breaking the shift fork. I have actually seen quite a few broken reverse and 5/6 forks. I don't know if tremec had a bad run of them but I recently dropped one off of my assembly table and it broke, I was shocked that shifting didn't break that one.
drain the fluid and see if you get any metal, or better yet pull the tail housing off. IF it did break the fork that is an EASY DIY repair. if its like AMP says and it ripped the splines off the main shaft or the cluster then its not an easy repair, but STILL is DIYable with a few resources and minimal tooling.
any questions you can PM me and I can do my best to walk you through pulling the tail off and ill be glad to give you my cell if you want to send me pictures before you ship it off and put $1500+ into it.
