how to remove master cyl in vette?

how to remove master cyl in vette? how do you get the master cylinder out in a c5?
I have the roll pin and line removed from under the hood, when I looked under the dash I found the clip to remove the end of the master cyl.
BUT
HOW do you get the master out, there is a big metal plate in the way and thick rubber matt/sound deadening behind it...
is there 2 studs and nuts behind all that crap? or do I just spin the master some and push it out?
I am looking for someone with VETTE experience, as it seems the f body cars are different...
