Default Quicktime Bellhousing Users

Those with scattershields, specifically Quicktime...how close to centered was your unit on a t56?

Dialing mine in and i'm getting a max of .009" Total Indicator Reading (.0045" halved) in one direction, and .002" in the other.

Am i just lucky? Did i finally have something work out ok? I took the dial indicator setup apart, and was able to recreate on the same spots. Is this uncommon?

Just bolted it on then verified clutch worked right. Haven't thought about it since.

i just bolted mine in and had vibrations. pulled the trans and after 5000 miles i had scoring on my input shaft. im selling it now.

That's what i'm trying to avoid. Have you considered just replacing the I/S bearing and recentering the bellhousing? The front plate of the trans is coming off anyway to do a bearing.


Update: i ordered a set of 0.007" offset pins, i'm going to get this thing dialed before bolting it up.

We bolt on cast and billet gear boxes all the time for airboats and never had an alignment issue, so I bolt it right on. I'm going to check it all here soon since I have a seal leak. Built hundreds and not even a full percent have leaks, but I build one for me and I get a leak. I ordered the checker plate and will check it out, but it's sad if they can't get it to at least match right up on a stock new block that hasn't be line honed.

not sure what would have put i groove in the shaft of tranny if it wasn't due to it being slightly cocked

Just a quick update.

I installed the 0.007 pins, adjusted them and have a total of 0.005" runout.

All set for now. The bolts that go into the oil pan threads don't engage far enough in. I ended up stripping out of of the threads during testing. I'm installing a thread insert tonight.

I picked up the RM-130 alignment plate since I have two cars that both are going back together with QT bells. Where did you order your offset pins from?

i ordered the pins from here:

Lakewood also has a pin and bushing kit, where you drill out the holes, center the BH, then TIG weld the bushing on.
