Default t56 to gen 4 block

i remember seeing a thread where a guy was trying to bolt up a t56 to an ls3 which is a gen 4 block, and ran into problems since the ls3 was designed for a tr6060 to bolt up. i recently acquired an ERL 427 using a gen 4 5.3.....will i be able to use my fbody bell and fbody t56 and bolt it right up?

yeah.
As long as it isn't an early long truck crank, a 6 bolt Gen III is the same as a 6 bolt Gen IV. The GTO used the same T56 behind LS1 and LS2.

I bolted a 4th gen T56 to a LH8 (gen 4 5.3L aluminum block) engine. Zero issues.

From what I can tell is that there is two different pilot bearings. Which one you need I don’t know. You will have to measure and see.

Would that not be a feature of the crankshaft and not the block itself? Now that you mention it, mine does have a wet sump 4" crank in it and a F body pilot bearing.

That’s true, I was thinking about it in terms of how it came from the factory instead of it having an aftermarket crank in it. Makes me wonder which one the majority of the aftermarket cranks use.

so im familiar with the pilot bearings, is that the issue with using a t56? can you use a t56 with the large pilot bearing if that is the size the cranks require?
