Grinding when at complete stop?

Grinding when at complete stop? I’m thinking about buying a 1999 Pontiac trans am 6speed and for some reason gears only grind at a stop with clutch fully depressed down?
if I wait a split second then put it in a gear it will not grind? I have only tried 1st and 2nd gear. Both grind. tried searching in a few different forums for this problem and can’t seem to figure out what it is and nobody has any info on it? Please help? One mechanic I talked to said synchros are toast But if they was wouldn’t they always grind or? Help please?
