Default T56 Rebuild

02 T56 pulled out of a poorly maintained 68k mi. WS6. When I drained the fluid, it was gray/blackish. Before I pulled the transmission this is what would happen. When the clutch is DISengaged, the noise goes away. But when the clutch is engaged the noise comes back. It also persists while in gear. The noise most certainly sounds like bad bearings.

The T56 goes into every gear and the car drives fine, but the noise gets louder as the RPM's climb and I simply don't want to damage anything further. I have no knowledge about the internals of a transmission and am looking for a basic rebuild with minor upgrades that'll hold bolts on's if I go that route.

I am located in Northern California. Any suggestions?

Go to Texas Drivetrain Performance website, check out their rebuild packages, review their shipping information. The inexpensive stage 1 rebuild will be sufficient for a bolt-on T/A. They're very good people and have great customer service. I've been very pleased using them in the past.

Looked into their services and they seem very solid, thanks for the recommendation.

I’ll second the TDP recommendation. Killer service.

Nice, may I ask the details of your rebuild and how much you paid?

I got the stage 2 from them, had him fix my input shaft and the mainshaft for the 5/6 gear cluster. It was right around 2 grand after shipping and replacing my worn out parts.

I didn't use TDP for my rebuild, but I did use them to fix my mainshaft, like southpaw. Absolutely phenominal work.
