It's donut shaped and the input shaft passes thru it.
If you follow the braided hydrauic line from the master you will see it enter the trans. The dicconnect fitting is right there.
You can do the drill mod without pulling the slave. I remember the U-bolt that holds the master being a PITA to get back in place tho.
If you are replacing the slave, I'd do the clutch (if it's old) while the trans is out.
