Default Sudden change in engagement point?

2000 camaro T56 behind a cammed 6.0 using an LS7 (luk 04-905) clutch assebly, all swapped into a 1978 B body wagon.

Car has been together for almost a year, daily driven with a couple trips to the strip and some spirited street driving here and there. all hunky dory for the most part.

last Saturday was out for a cruise with friends and was playfully "social distancing" Dropped the clutch in 2nd and all was fine. bang shifted 3rd and smoke. First time i have ever smoked the clutch on the car.

Clutch seems to still grab well, but the release point it near the top of the pedal stroke now, where as before it was fully engaged much lower in the stroke. I know the LS7 clutch is Self adjusting, is that what i am feeling? Thinking i may have smoked the clutch just simply by the pedal not being fully released when i hit the throttle, as in the past it was Ok when done this way.

Did a pull later that night and could bang shift without issue, but pedal had to be fully released for clutch to grab properly, which is not typical for my setup in the past.
