Default Oversized LS6 Pilot Bearing? 1.705"?

Hey guys, I've got an LS6 in my ASA Stock car that came from Schwanke. I was changing the clutch, and ordered the "large" LS Pilot Bearing, part #12557583. Well, it's too small. OD mic's at 1.650", but the old bearing is 1.705"

On the old bearing it's printed "6302 DU" and "815-115" but all those numbers point to 1.65" OD bearings. It doesn't make any sense. Is there an extra large bearing?

Thanks! It was strange, because when I gave Advance and Autozone the Chevy part number, and even the numbers printed on the old bearing, they pulled 1.650" bearings for me. I made a trip to NAPA this morning, and they pulled the correct bearing.

That's ok. Try going to oreillys to get a pilot bearing. Dude tried to give me a axle bearing. I told him my hammer is too
Small to make that work. He looked confused. So I told him the hole is like 1-5/8 not 3-1/2 inches. So he brought me a front wheel bearing.

I shoulda known when I said Pontiac travs
And he could not find it - but we do have a firebird if that works!

This!!! I started laughing when I first read it. But, this is so true! The people working at the big box store parts retailers can be found anywhere. I guess its an upgrade from Wally's world. There are still a few parts store around me owned by independent proprietors. They are usually cost competitive and the knowledge is priceless without the nonsense and frustration of going to a store where qualified means you know how to use a computer.

For instance, my car has an underdrive pulley. The belt frayed and had to be replaced. You could not read the numbers. Even if you could, a big box store would only ask what is the make and year, and could not find the belt by number. I went to my local guy belt in hand and showed it to him. What did he do when he could not read the numbers, got the Gates measuring gauge, stretched the belt on it and found the length, cross referenced the length to a part number, got the long helper stick and took the right sized belt from the upper shelf row. Amazing!!
Later on I called the big box, I won't mention names, and they sold the same belt for two bucks less. Wow are they worth it!! BTW, the belt I bought was a GOODYEAR.
