Default T56 Stuck in gear, will nit shift

Was out driving last night and car got stuck in 4th gear.

Wrestled it in and out a couple times and as I pulled in the shifter was all bound up.

Managed to get in neutral (I think) and push in garage, still bound up and won’t cycle through gears even with car off.

Went out his morning and it seemed to free up and now I can cycle through gears normally.

Trans only has ~70k on it and I have a receipt that it had work done previously (see attached). I can’t imagine they wouldn’t update the known shift fork issue etc.

I have read similar post about being stuck in 4th.

Questions are: Any thought son what the issue is?

secondly, I just started driving the car, and it would be great to postpone pulling the trans until winter, even if it meant avoiding 4th gear for now. But I obviously don’t want to do more damage.

Appreciate any thoughts or input.

Probably broken shift key. Only way to fix it is a rebuild and upgrade to billets.

Would this be isolated to 4th only?

Took the car out with the idea of avoiding using 4th gear. Everything worked perfectly.

Out of habit I put it in 4th a half dozen times, and never had an issue.

if the keys we broken, would it still function this well?

is there any other possible cause that is was stuck?

Looking at the invoice, the work in 2011 was on 3rd gear only?
