Default Anti venom mod

I installed an mgw shifter and shifting is very notchy and hard. I don't mind firm and notchy, but this is too much. Im somewhat confident I can access the shift detent without dropping the tranny.

I bought a two-pack of dormancy 65277 copper oil drain gasket as recommended by other members on this forum. Should I use one or two?

Also, should I lubricate the ball at all since I have access?

You can defniitely get the detent without dropping the transmission. ATF lubricates that ball pretty well, so it should be fine. Try one gasket first. Sometimes people end up using two. I used two. I do not have issues with the car jumping out of gear. If you use one and it's not notchy, then going to two could cause it not to stay in gear, which is the actual function of the detent.

Thanks. That's pretty helpful. Im going to try one and drive it around for a while. It should make it at least a small amount better. Im a bit nervous of over loosening it and having it pop out of gear.

For whatever reason, shifting into reverse got more difficult. I have a Billet Pro shifter, getting into reverse is the biggest challenge with this shifter with the **** set at the lowest point/shortest throw.

I found a washer that was thicker and put the offset about 1.5 times that of a single washer from Dorman, that worked out best for me.

I have one washer installed on mine and its smooth. I also found a place on ebay that sells a shorter reverse spring that really makes it easy to get into reverse.
