I’m going to run a L83 and a T56 Magnum trans, I see where a few places say run a 3/8” bell spacer so you can use the outer large pilot bearing. I have mocked this up and the input shaft is right against the pilot, too tight in my opinion. Anyone else run into this issue?

Try contacting a Vendor, like RPM Transmissions

Great advice, but it removes the point of this site. Folks come here looking for technical info from others. If everyone called the vendor, this site would close down because no one would need any help. Traffic pays the bills around here.

I see what you're saying, but I disagree,

Not saying threads here are antiquated, but if we can gain some information from the Vendors, who pay to be here, by all means share the information with others...that's the beauty of collaboration.

If the input spline section front barely touches the inner race of the large style pilot, that would be an easy buzz and haircut of the input right around the rear of the pilot tip. Mark it up with Dykem and start'er up.

We have vendors here...RPM isn’t one of them...who can help out just fine. But again, please don’t come on a technical site and tell someone to call a vendor. That’s what some forums are for, but not this one. Lots of smart guys here willing to help out, that know as much if not more than some vendors do.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with pointing peeps in right directions, but I didn't know RPM doesn't pay to be here.

OK, your missing the point again. Folks don’t come here for phone numbers. They come here for technical answers. That’s the right direction. Make sense?

Nope. Not

All the OP can do is pick up the phone, talk to a professional, and report findings here. If the answer is not answered. Boom, done. Technical problem solved, in either case.

If you look at the majority of the posts by Marvel127 in other threads, that’s all he can say is to call RPM Transmissions, if you have a question about how long to cook a turkey in the oven he will post saying to call RPM Transmission, obviously he’s in bed with them

Wait - so if the question is not answered then the problem is ... solved? Um..... Er.....

If you gonna just troll, stay in the SRK section. That is where the trolls live. Otherwise, go gape some nerds and report back.

Just wanted to add info here... I did an LS1 fbody style t56 to an L83 pairing. For the pilot bearing, I did the brake hone and used the larger OD bearing into the crankshaft. I used an AMP bellhousing and from the plane at the rear of the bellhousing to the face of the bearing... I measured 4.98" and I measured from the plane at the front of the t56 mating surface to the bell housing to the step on the input shaft where it necks down to the nipple and got 5.3X" (did not write down exact figure). I did write down that the difference was 0.33"

a magnum is different from my transmission but that maybe this info would help. In the end I paid a local transmission shop to do the work (texas drivetrain performance) they charged me around $150 for disassembly and machining (2021) and did not provide the exact dimensions. I installed it at that point and it barely had enough splines left to sit through my Tilton 7.25" tripple disk setup.

Note. if you use certain factory clutches that pair with the tr6060, the flywheel may have a necked down opening that would prevent your input shaft from getting as close to the pilot bearing face. Also, note that I did not have any spacer or those metal plates that sit behind the flywheel which would offset measurements. I just installed bellhousing to engine and transmission to bellhousing.
