Question Another T56 to L96 swap

Hey guys,

I know there are a lot of threads about swapping T56 to LS / LT engines, but I could not find the right information for the L96 truck engine. I have the T56 (Borg Warner 13-86-065-902) with the 13-86-172-903 front or mid plate. for the bellhousing I could not find a part no but it seems to be a little bit too small to fit my L96 engine. So I assume it is for the LS engines or maybe aluminum block engines? I have to say honestly that I am not yet familiar with the Gen3 and 4 engines so I am not sure which engines have maybe the same flanges or housings, what makes it even more difficult

If I found the right information, some people used the bellhousing 13-86-212-901-H for LT1 engines with iron block. Some others needed different input shafts, front/mid plates and adjustment shims. Also for the throwout I found different information about shaft sizes, hydraulic throw outs that fit, others say you have to use another shaft, different information on same gearbox. As it is not easy to find all the parts here in the UAE, I just want to avoid buying and trying, maybe someone can help me with part numbers I need to make the conversation.

Hope someone can help with that, thanks a lot guys!

Best regards,
Chris

Have to update a little bit. After research and thanks to some guys here I found out that it is actually LQ4 or LQ9 (have to check the pistons on the weekend) and not L96.

As far as the bellhousing, any LS or SBC will fit up to the L96, LQ4, or LQ9 engine.

LS is missing one bolt from the SBC pattern, and all LS based engines have the same bolt pattern on the block.

I think you have to check for long crank or short crank for the flywheel.
