Pilot bearing needed for clutch install?

Pilot bearing needed for clutch install? I'm getting ready to do a clutch swap on my '00 LS1 with a little less than 50K on the clock. I'm just waiting for the parts to be delivered. I will have all this by the end of the week:
'01+ slave cylinder
'01+ master cylinder
new stock flywheel
pressure plate
clutch disc
throwout bearing
alignment tool
Clutch is a spec stage 3. I was just wondering if I need to replace the pilot bearing for a new one since I've been searching and came across this. Never really got a definite answer if it is mandatory or not though. What exactly is it and do I need to swap it out?
