Default 2005 GTo w ls7 clutch kit air gap ?

So I’m installing my new ls7 clutch kit( from txdrivetrain )on my 2005 gto(first time ever being this deep in the car ) ! Came with new pilot bearing , slave cylinder(factory gto replacement ) , ls7 clutch ,ls7 pressure plate ,& ls1 flywheel while reusing my stock bellhousing and t-56 m12 trans . Measured my air gap and got “.015” when all the math was said and done . Excuse my ignorance as stated this is my first time and I guess I’m just paranoid but what shim would I need to meet the proper air gap clearance ? My buddies are telling me a .113 shim will do the job , but I’ve heard you wanna be closer to the .200 rather than the .100 mark so I’m thinking a .180 shim is what I’m needing ? Any advice will be greatly appreciated id feel like the biggest fool ever to mate trans and then my clutch pedal is funky or even worse damaging something ( also I am going for the correct clearance for the ls7 clutch right ?( .100-.200)?

If your gap is .015 shimming it will only make it worse. .015 is not enough gap.

Shimming DECREASES gap, it does not increase gap.

why would this be ? And how would I fix it ? I just remeasured and following results - Measurement A (bell housing to pressure plate teeth ) was 3.500 measurement b ( slave to trans ) was 3.400 . Subtracted those and left me with 0.1 gap . I believed I mathed wrong somewhere yesterday or something . Does that gap sound more reasonable (0.1)?

Your original post said you have .015 gap. Now you have .10 gap? Which is it? If you truly have .10 gap you are good to go with no shim.

Did you remove the spring on the slave and COMPLETELY compress the throwout bearing down as far as it will go? It takes a bit of force to get to go down the last quarter inch or so.

thanks rich for you help ! Here and gto forum .i ran into multiple problems along the way of this install and explained them all in the “Ls1 Gto forum “ I’m gonna post the link for there on this page , as that place seems to have more people knowledgeable on this given subject there . However you were right on the slave not being completely compressed ! I went over my issue in the forum below ! https://www.ls1gto.com/threads/2005-...r-gap.850056/#
