Default Transmission Troubles

Alright, so I’m now a proud owner of a 1999 z28 Camaro. I bought it knowing that it had transmission issues but I only found the extent of the problems the other day. I have only one option and that sees me spending an arm and a leg on a trans. I need help either finding a place that manufactures them or finding a shop that would go through my current one. If anyone has suggestions to help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

Trans issues I have:
• Third will grind into gear and has to be held to stay in gear
• 4th likes to lock down the trans and will only let it shift into neutral and third
• When it locks i cannot move to 1st and 2nd or 5th and 6th

I’ve been told multiple things it could be such as; clutch forks, trans keys, and the 3rd and 4th gear itself. I am at a complete loss and Ive been around several forums trying to figure this out. Anything will be helpful. Thank yall so much

Drop the trans and bring it to a local builder for a rebuild

Drop the trans and send it to someone like Trick performance for a rebuild

Take it to your mechanic, have them drop the trans and send it to the shop of their choice for rebuild

If its a stock T56, could be a bent 3-4 shift fork. You want a steel one, not the stock aluminum one.

Look around wherever you live for a shop that works on manual transmissions. Get billet keys also when it is being worked on
