Probs with my Tranny
My trans has been acting up for the past couple weeks. Whats going on is this: 1. My clutch pedal sticks to the floor sometimes, 2. Its hard to get the car into reverse every now and then, 3. The car is tough to get into 3rd gear (I can't just throw it in there like i should be able to, if i do, it either A. grinds, or B. make a "chunk" sound), 4. I have somewhat the same problem with downshifting to first, I can't just ram it in there like a healthy, smooth tranny, it'll grind, and 5. I hear a clunking sound coming from the rearend, like its shifting around back there, bucking even.
The tranny isnt smooth at all. That's probably partially due to the Pro 5.0 shifter. But it just doesnt feel healthy going through the gears anymore. I thought that it may be the master cylinder going bad and the MC fluid needing changed as well, but I'm pretty sure there is something else to it. I dont know what though. What do you think? Thanks.
Your not gonna like my answer , I think most everyone has had these problems 1 at a time or all at once like you do. The clutch needs to be replaced, entirely including the hydraulics. Then it sounds like the trans is in need of freshing up, synchro's & a steel 3-4 shift fork. The bend the 3-4 shift fork & those gears become a problem. Usually 3rd, from what's happened to me.
I had a feeling thats what my problem was, but I wanted another opinion. Thanks.
