Default Is there such thing as a manual trans cooler ?

When I drive my T56 hard ... I can really feel the heat in the car and against my legs. This is worrying me and I don't think its normal. So has anyone tried or know how to cool a manual transmission ?

I think if your trans is getting that hot then you definitely have a problem. You might want to check to see if you still have plenty of lube in it. Also, are you sure that it is the trans and not the exhaust? I've never heard of anybody cooling a manual trans, although it is technically possible. Find out what's making it run so hot (if anything) and fix it. That'll solve your problem.

You'd need some sort of pump to circulate the fluid.. because the transmission is splash lubricated. I don't see it hurting anything.. but I think your problem lay elsewhere.. Does your tranny fluid look burnt?

Good Luck,
Josh

Oils cooling is standard fare on race cars . Especially road course -driven ones. A pump , circulating lines and a heat exchanger are needed. It is somthing best left to the expertienced if you want it to not cause a problem.

what do you have your AC/heat ***** turned to? If I have it set at hot when it's not on you can feel heat coming from the floor vents.

Mine gets pretty hot also. I can feel it coming from the gap in the rubber boot of the e-brake. Not sure why it gets that damned hot but I have wondered about this too. What could cause it to start getting that hot. I've got a D&D tranny so if there is a problem I might have to call them and find out if this is something that happens often.

that heat is probably just your y pipe. remember there is a big hole there in your tunnel where the trans is. that rubber boot isn't gonna stop heat from transferring in when things get real hot exhaust wise.

Another point is remember the trans is bolted right up to the hot engine, and you are going to have some heat xfer from the block to the trans casing.
