Default need T-56 rebuild HELP!!

Bought a 1999 Z last fall and of course the Slave and master were shot but the previous owner never read up on it and destroyed the tranny. Well when I got it 2nd was almost entirely gone and 3rd and 4th were locked out! Can someone explain to me why they were locked out. Also I put new master and slave in and a new clutch in a NEW 2001 tranny w/ hardly any miles on it. Now 2nd gear is grinding real bad and won't go in at times. But I can usually down shift into 2nd. I'm just worried that I will soon lose 3rd and 4th like the old tranny did because the two trannies are acting the same. Also I called D&D Performance for parts and they told me to tear it down and then call them back, but I'm not to familiar w/ manual transmissions. My plan is to repair the old tranny and then pull the new tranny out and fix it so I have two fresh trannys. So if anyone has an idea what all needs to be replaced in the 1999 tranny let me know, thanks.

You'll keep breaking transmission parts (synchros) unless it's drill modded.

You do need to pull it apart or you'll be ordering parts twice. Once for basics; once for parts that need replaced. If you're in Phoenix, I rebuild them.
