Default Mushy Clutch Problems

I dont know a whole lot about how a standard tranny works but i dont know if the transmission is going out or not i honestly dont think it is but some thing is definatly not right i believe that there is a problem with air in the clutch system but cannot figure out where the bleed screw is for any of it i am to hope that it is like a brake system with the fluid and all but i seriously need help. I have followed from the clutch mc resevior to the mc to the side of the transmission but then it just dissapears into the bell housing?!?!?! do i really have to drop the transmission just to bleed the air? by the way i have a 98 trans am with the mm6 6speed anyone out there help please!!

The bleeder for the clutch hydraulics is on the transmission about 2 to 3 inches above the place where the line runs into the transmission.

It is a 2 man operation to bleed the clutch.

1. Check resevoir level
2. Pump clutch and hold it on the floor
3. open the bleeder screw and bleed fluid until fluid flow slows down and shut.
4. Go back to step 1 and repeat until the pedal feels normal.

What you can do is use the mityvac to draw a vacuum on the resevoir, then slowly push in the pedal to get any trapped air.
