something is wrong with my 5th gear

Question something is wrong with my 5th gear

sometimes when ever i shift...i kept grounding a 5th gear and pops right back out....what could be wrong..it happens only when im goin 50mph.. and above that itz really hard to shift...very tough....

In previous manual hotrods that would kick out of gear I always had a problem synchronizer.

It could be either a bent fork or worn clutch teeth( either the synchro sleeve or the driven gear) or, actually, both. Gear jump out can bend a fork and make jump outs more likely. Clashing 5th( missing third is the most common way) is a likely cause of synchro tooth wear.
